Magic + Wonder: Turn On Your Holidays

Magic and wonder is all around us, especially during the holidays. It lives within a moment, a connection between us - and not underneath the tree in a pretty box.

Magic and wonder is a feeling … it’s something you let, not something you get. When we slow down, tune in, and turn ourselves on, magic and wonder become abundant.

Would you like to cultivate abundance this season around magic and wonder for yourself?  I have just the process for you…

Step 1

Imagine for a moment during this holiday season you DID create magic for yourself and you felt the wonder you experienced as a child.

What might that look like for you now?  Close your eyes for a moment and step into what magic and wonder feels like to you now - what experience comes up?  Write it down.

... Maybe it’s caroling or special music or the smell of Christmas cookies.

… Maybe it’s tasting a new special Christmas treat.

… Maybe it’s sledding in freshly fallen snow.

… Maybe it’s your partner surprising you with an experience to share.

… Maybe it’s starting a new family tradition.

Whatever the experience is for you - what is the underlying feeling that comes up for you?  Is it surprise, is it connection? What does magic and wonder truly feel like to you?

Step 2

Next dig into why do you want to feel magic and wonder. What’s important about feeling this way?

Answer:  Feeling __________ {Magic + Wonder} is important because to me it means I  am ___________ {loved, happy, enjoying life, savoring life, making memories, living on purpose … etc}

Take it further and ask yourself, '...and what’s important about that?..."

Step 3

Lastly, knowing you can only control your own behaviors … how can you create and cultivate a wondrous feeling of magic this holiday season?

Maybe it’s inviting family or friends over for warm holiday cookies, or hosting a night of caroling. Or maybe when it snows it’s gathering your partner, friends, or family for an outside adventure. Get specific!  And set up opportunities for the magic to happen!

What will you do?

Answer: _______

This three step process  -- Understanding how you want to feel; Claiming what’s important about it; and Setting up opportunities for it to happen -- will help you create an experience of magic and wonder this season (and all seasons).

If we slow down, draw a breath, and tune into what we really want and how we really want to feel, the distractions, stress, and general chaos of the holidays will pale in comparison to the magic and wonder of the season.
