Honoring our second chakra is exciting, necessary and essential to our wholeness. A balanced second chakra will leave you feeling open to pleasure and creativity, and allow you to embrace your emotions in a healthy way.
I love that! Creativity comes naturally for some of us, and for others (like me) we have to work for inspiration.
Whether you’re a vessel of imagination or you think you lack vision, we all have an abundant amount of artistic ideas wanting to come out and play. We just need to connect to them. The easiest (and most fun) way to plug into our creativity is through joy. Joy manifests creativity and creativity leads to joy. A total win-win!
The second chakra (svadisthana) is the center of creativity, sensation, emotions, passion and sexuality. It is the birthplace of abundance and is located in your pelvis, sex organs and lower back.
When this energy center is deficient you may be too rigid and serious. On the flip side, if this chakra is suffering from excessiveness you can be overly emotional and lack boundaries in romantic relationships.
Balancing our second chakra requires one thing: being open to having FUN! Seriously, its time to let go and be kids again. Remember when life was simple and our biggest decision was whether to go play hide and seek or color? I yearn for those days of innocence, exploration and magic.
Here are a few of my ideas to help you heal your second chakra by tapping into your creativity and joy.
Not only does dancing release endorphins (happy hormones), but it also opens your hips (the location of this chakra) and encourages your ability to let go, flow and feel. So go ahead and have your own private little dance party or invite friends over to experience the fun.
Confession, I have the skills of a 6 year old when it comes to all things art, but a few weeks ago I made myself buy a coloring book and spend the afternoon coloring. I had so much fun and was really able to get out of my head for a few hours!
Whether its breaking out a board game, scrap booking, cooking, taking a martial arts class or digging in the dirt (aka gardening), adding more playtime will increase your joy.
Take a bath, have a piece of dark chocolate or get a manicure. Whatever makes you happy, go and do it. You deserve to indulge!
Break out a pen and piece of paper. Write down whatever comes to mind. Don’t try to censor, edit or control what comes out. Embrace your unconscious thoughts and enjoy the experience.
Celebrating joy and creativity is our divine right. Life is about finding balance and part of that is to free yourself from any limitations that are holding you back. Let go, make time to unwind, and have some fun!
